Fine lapidary work to bring out the best of South Dakota’s State Gem - the Fairburn Agate - was incorporated into this Lakota handmade Sterling Silver ring. This gemstone agate was found in the Southern region of the Black Hills, Tipi Canyon.
Centric to the ring is the agate, while incorporating an Eagle motif of a culture who’s emergence occurred out of Wind Cave in the Black Hills of South Dakota. As with other indigenous cultural beliefs throughout the world, the Lakota (Sioux) tell a story of emergence out of the earth. Of great importance to the Lakota, the Eagle Nation (Wanbli Oyate’), the Chief of all winged creatures still graces the skies above the Lakota homeland. The icon image of the Eagle was chosen as a talisman to complete a story of emergence and represent the protective vigilance for all of Creation.
Universally, humans have an inspired connection with the Eagle. No different than other cultures, the Lakota honor and wear the Eagle’s feather to exemplify the ideals of leadership; Bravery, Wisdom, Humility and Generosity.
